Letter from the Executive Director

Dear Prospective Member,

When I began my volunteer service for the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department in 1987 I never expected that I would still be involved 23 years later. As the Executive Director of the Montgomery County Volunteer Fire-Rescue Association, I am charged with the development and management of programs that support and advance the volunteer fire/rescue service on a local, state and national level.  I joined when I was 15 years old and moved up through the ranks all while having a career in the military, US government and private industry. I share my personal experience with you because I am a firm believer that once you sign up, you will be joining our family for life. In return for providing a critical service for your community you will: receive complimentary state of the art training; have an opportunity to develop an extensive professional network; and develop life-time friendships.

I commend you for taking the time to explore this website and for considering this extraordinary volunteer opportunity. I also encourage you to fill out the information request tab to give one of our knowledgeable recruiters an opportunity to share some valuable information with you.

Fraternally,

Eric N. Bernard

Executive Director
